Update 3

The UN estimates that 8 million people have been affected by the earthquake while 2.8 million people have been displaced by it. Your contribution, no matter the size, has been crucial both as a provider of funds and as a community working to help rebuild Nepal. As of today, we have raised $145,187 through our online and offline campaign. A heartfelt Thank You to:

  • Dechen Tsering and ACHA Himalayan Sisterhood group for hosting a fundraiser and donating portion of proceeds to Sahayeta.
  • Tenzin Sherab from Maui, Hawaii for fundraising $2550 on behalf of Sahayeta.
  • Ram Lacchi Magar and the Bay area Bhutanese Nepalese community for their fundraising efforts.
  • Board of Equalization Member Fiona Ma, Assemblymember Phil Ting and Assemblymember David Chiu of San Francisco and the Asian Pacific Democratic Club for hosting a very successful fundraiser for Sahayeta.

Our relief efforts this week has been as follows:

– We partnered with SEBS and chartered a helicopter to drop much needed food and relief items to Aru Arbang Village, Chhurung-Kalreri, in Gorkha District, which has been completely cut off from supplies due to multiple landslides. Thank you to Mohit Raj from team 360+ for personally delivering the goods.

– We worked with community leaders in Dhading to distribute jasta pata (corrugated zinc roof) – for 120 homes in Mulpani – 3, Aale Gaun, Dhading. Zinc roofs are proving to be a life saving alternative to tents given the heavy rainfall and wind. Thank you to our volunteers who braved the weather to make this possible.

– We partnered with local leaders to deliver 1600 kgs of food supplies for upper lukla-solu khumbu (ghumela village) where the road has been cut off for 2 week.
