Underserved Student Scholarships

Sahayeta has targeted the most inaccessible district of Nepal to be the recipient of 10 primary school scholarships. 6 girls and 4 boys have been selected to attend a private school in Simikot, Humla.

Our students (in picture) range in age from 5 years to 12 years and have started their school session beginning April 2012. As we continue to work out the details with local Humla students and residents we are also reaching out to the Bay Area Nepalese youth for help in two important areas. First, youth participation will be essential to help us achieve a fundraising goal of $7000. Secondly, we need student teachers – that’s right, Bay Area youth will be teaching Humla kids English over Skype one hour a week. To our Bay Area Nepalese parents, please talk to your kids about this very enriching opportunity – one that seeks to instill the necessary virtues of self-confidence and respect. If you are or know someone who has an interest in connecting to kids on the opposite side of the world, spread the word!
